Reading is the process of understanding the text. By reading, we can get insight, knowledge and new information. Reading requires high concentration because reading is the process of analyzing writing of reading as well as digesting it so that the contents of the Reading can be understood. Reading looks simple, but not a few students feel lazy in reading. The purpose of this study was to determine the achievement of tenth grade students’ in reading comprehension and the percentage score of tenth grade students’ reading comprehension.
The researcher used a descriptive qualitative design. The main instrument in this study is a reading test which is a multiple choice test. The population in this study were tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Samarinda. The sample in this study was a purposive sampling, that are 72 students of which students were from class F and G. In analyzing the data, the researcher used the mean formula was designed by Gay and the percentage score classification was designed by Arikunto.
Based on the result of statistical and discussion, the researcher concluded that students’ achievement on reading comprehension at the tenth grade students’ of SMA Negeri 7 Samarinda was at a fair level. 1) The average score of students, which is 64.1. 2) The percentage score of students achievement in reading comprehension is 10 students (12.2%) got a excellent level, 16 students (14.4%) got a good level, 21 students (34.4%) got a fair level, 18 students (29.2%) got a poor level and 7 students (9.8%) got a fail level.</note>
