Speaking is the prominent skill in mastering foreign languages, especially English language. Learning specification is a long and complex undertaking. The fluency of speaking English is the first thing that will be seen to determine a person's ability in mastery a foreign language. Moreover, students felt anxious and insecure about their speaking skills. Therefore, speaking anxiety is one of the problems experienced by fifth semester students of English Education Department at  State  Islamic  University  of  Sultan  Aji  Muhammad  Idris  Samarinda.  The research objective was to know the correlation between speaking anxiety and students' speaking skill at fifth semester of English Education Department at State Islamic University of Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda in Academic Year 2022/2023.
This research was a quantitative research, with correlation method. This research consists of two variables. Variable X is the independent variable (Speaking Anxiety) and variable Y is the dependent variable (Speaking Skills of Students).  The  subject  of  this  research  was  the  5th  semester  English  Tadris students as many as 30 students. The questionnaire and speaking test was used as the research instrument. Speaking anxiety data was taken using the Foreign Language Speaking Anxiety Scale questionnaire from ztürk and Gürbüz. Meanwhile, data on students' English speaking skills were taken using a test. This research was used SPSS Version 26 to analyze the data of normality test, linear test, homogenity test and Pearson Product Moment test.
Based on data analysis, the results of this research showed that a correlation coefficient value was -0.697 with a significance value was 0.000. Therefore, it can be concluded that there was a significant high negative correlation between speaking anxiety and English speaking skill of fifth semester students of English education department at State Islamic University of Sultan  Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda in academic year 2022/2023.</note>
