(2) Ms. Anis Komariah M.Pd. English also becomes very important for people to exchange meaning and represent their feelings and ideas. Learning a foreign language is different from learning one’s mother tongue. The students meet a lot of difficulties in learning a foreign language (the target language / TL). Sometimes the student make some errors in translating Indonesian text into English text. The students still do not master the translation and it is still hard to translate from Indonesia to English especially in transforming noun phrases. This research aimed to find out the error of noun phrases and the most common error in noun phrase that the students committed at fourth semester English student of State Islamic University Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda. This research is descriptive qualitative research. This research is focused on the fourth semester students of state Islamic University of Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda in the 2023 academic year. The researcher takes 1 out of 3 classes, namely TBI 1, TBI2, and TBI3 with a total of 32 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used several instruments, namely writing test and questionnaires. According to the result of the research, there are four error surface strategy taxonomy, namely ommission, addition, misformation and misordering the data in misformation error is the highest frequency that reaches up to 38.22%. Then addition shows 35.48% frequency if error, omission shows 20.38% frequency of error and the lowest frequency is misordering 15.92%. Therefore, misformation is the most common error in noun phrase English translataion with 38.22% percentage.
