This research is under the guidance of Mr. Dr. Umar Fauzan, S.Pd, M.Pd as the first advisor and Mrs. Widya Noviana Noor, M.Pd as the second advisor.
Passive voice is when you make the object of an action into the subject of a sentence. According to Kasmini and Siwi passive voice is a sentence that the original receiver becomes the subject and the original doer of the action becomes the object of the preposition by. In other statement, passive voice is a grammatical contraction where the subject as a receiver of action by doer of action that can mention and or not. The objectives of this research was to know the students’ ability in constructing passive voice of SMA Negeri 7 Samarinda academic year 2021/2022.
The method used in this research was descriptive quantitative. The population of this research was the second grade students at SMA Negeri 7 Samarinda. This research used simple random sampling method. The sample used in this research were 53 students. Test and documentation were chosen as the instrument in this research. The test was given to the students to measure the students’ ability in constructing passive voice. The mean formula, the percentage formula, and classification of ability level was used to analyzed the data.
Based on the research finding, the students' ability in constructing passive voice were in a poor level (0-49). It can be proved by the students’ average score the result was 27,64. Furthermore, the percentage of students’ ability from 53 students were 0 (0%) students were in good to excellent level, 4 (8%) students in average to good level, 8 (15%) students in poor to average level and 41 (77%) students in poor level.</note>
