Thesis, Under Graduate Degree, English Education Study Programme, Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty. State Islamic University Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda. This thesis was under guidance Ms. Rostanti Toba, M.Pd as the first advisor and Ms. Widya Noviana Noor, M.Pd as the second advisor.
In the process of teaching and learning English, many students found some difficulties in writing. In turn, to handle the students’ problems, some techniques were needed by the teacher to overcome that problems. To solve the problem, the researcher applied chain story technique to increase the students’ skill in writing descriptive text. The objective of this research was to know whether there was significant effectiveness of using chain story technique on students’  writing  skill  at  the  seventh  grade  of  MTs.  DDI  Tani  Aman  in Academic Year 2022/2023.
The   design   of   this   research   was   quasi-experimental   design.   The population was the students seventh grade. The samples were 50 students taken from seventh grade of which was chosen through random sampling technique. The samples of this research were two classes consisting 25 students for experimental design and 25 students for control class. Chain story technique was used in the experimental class and conventional technique in control class. In collecting data, were administred pre-test  and post-test. The Instrument  was descriptive text writing text. The data was analyzed using SPSS application.
Based on the result of this research, the experimental class obtained the significance 0.000. The significance value is lower than 0.05. That it can be stated ????????  is accepted and ????????  is rejected. It means there is a significant difference in the result post-test experimental class taught by using chain story and control class that was taught without chain story. In conclusion, using chain story is more effective than conventional technique.</note>
