This research was supervised by Mr. Dr. Bahrani, M.Pd as the first advisor and Mrs. Dini Irawati, M.Pd as the second advisor. Literature circle is a learning strategy by forming reading groups containing 4 to 5 members who have different reading abilities and interests come to read literary texts such as a novel or a story or expository texts such as essays, articles, or text books that they like and additionally to share their reading experiences with each other. The objective of this research was to find out whether the literature cricle can be effective to improve students’ reading comprehension at second grade of SMP Negeri 14 Samarinda. The design of this research used pre-experimental research. The data analyzed used SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) 25 version. The instrument used in this research is reading comprehension test items. Class VIII E is one of seven class was taken as a sample in this research. Based on the research show that Sig (2-tailed) is 0.000 and Alpha (ꭤ) is 0.05. It means that Sig (2-taild) is lower than Alpha (ꭤ) (0.000 < 0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Literature Circle to improve students’ reading comprehension at second grade of SMP Negeri 14 Samarinda was effective.
