Thesis, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Tarbiyah Faculty, State Islamic University Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda. This research was supervised by Mr. Dr. Umar Fauzan, M.Pd as the first advisor and Mrs. Dini Irawati, M.Pd as the second advisor.
In the process of teaching and learning English, many students found some difficulties in reading. In turn, to handle the students’ problems, some techniques were needed by the teacher to overcome that problems. To solve the problem, the researcher applied Quizizz technique to increase the students’ skill in reading descriptive text. The objective of this research was to know whether there was significant effectiveness of using quizizz technique on students’ reading skill at the tenth grade of SMKN 8 Samarinda. The design of this research was quasi-experimental design.
The population for this research consisted of tenth-grade students. The sample included 72 students selected from  the tenth  grade using random sampling techniques. The sample for this research comprised two classes, each consisting of 36 students for the experimental group and 36 students for the control group. The Quizizz technique was employed in the experimental class, while the control class used a conventional technique. Data were collected   through   pre-tests   and   post-tests,   with   the   instrument   being descriptive text. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS application.
Based on the result of this research, the experimental class obtained the significance 0.000. The significance value is lower than 0.05. That it can be stated  Ha is accepted  and  Ho is rejected.  It  means  there is a significant difference in the result post-test experimental class taught by using quizizz and control class that was taught without quizizz. In conclusion, using quizizz is more effective than conventional technique.</note>
