Thesis, Language Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Islamic University Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda. This research was supervised Rostanti Toba, M.Pd as the first supervisor and Widya Noviana Noor, M.Pd as the second supervisor.
Interaction is very important for the social environment, especially in school environment, which is the interaction between the teacher and the students. A good teacher is one who can understand the character of each student and interact well with them. When interactions between teachers and students are working well, that can help teachers to present materials easily to students and well received by students. Learning is process interaction that takes place between pupils and their surroundings and leads to positive behavioral changes. Supporting the effectiveness of teaching and learning is crucial because the serve as personal motivators, facilitators, inspirers and evaluators for their students. Teacher and students communicate with each other, and this communication is influenced by a number of different factors. This research aims to find out the type of classroom interaction are applied by the teacher and the role of classroom interaction are applied by teacher in teaching English at eighth grade MTs. As’Adiyah Santan Tengah Marangkayu in the academic year 2023/2024.
The research design of this research is qualitative research. The subject of this research are English teacher and students of eighth grade at MTs. As’Adiyah Santan Tengah Marangkayu in Academic Year 2023/2024. The data were collected using two instruments, namely observation and interview. In this research, there are three components consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion/verification. The technique of data validity uses method triangulation.
The result of the research are as follow, it can be stated that classroom interactions that take place during the teaching and learning process often go smoothly. The teacher used a few various methods of communication. In addition, the teacher used instructional strategies like lecturing, assigning assignments, and offering feedback and the student used student discussion strategies like learner initiation responses and occasionally quiet. The fact that the classroom interaction went well most of the time indicates that the teacher and students worked together to create interactive settings. The types of classroom interaction are applied by teacher there are, Teacher-Learners interaction and Learners-Learners interaction. And the teacher's role is to be an instructor or facilitator and give direction by example to make the students understand the material.</note>
