There are many factors that  determine the  success of  teaching and learning English. Some of the factors are a textbook and the existing curriculum. Textbook should be compatible with detail description in the curriculum.
The problem in this research was what writing materials displayed in the textbook of Pathway to English for The Eleventh Grade Students of Students at  MA Ma’Arif  01  NU  Samarinda  and  whether  the  writing  materials  of  the textbook  are  compatible  or  not  with  the  latest  curriculum,  namely  2013 Curriculum.
The  objective  of this research  was to  find  out  whether the  writing materials of the textbook are compatible or not with the last curriculum, which is 2013 curriculum.
This research was qualitative. The data analysis was descriptive qualitative.This research used content analysis technique. The data was gained from textbook of Pathway to English for The Eleventh Grade Students of Senior High School Published by Erlangga. After getting the data, the writer analyzed the data of the writing materials of the textbook and 2013 curriculum, comparing the two of them, and the last, evaluating the gap between them to find out whether the writing materials from the textbook are compatible or not with 2013 curriculum.
The research shows that all of the chapters in this book here eight chapters which shoved writing from nine chapters in textbooks. Only in Chapter nine the writing is not displayed, this chapter is more focused on speaking skill. Writing  of  the  material  comes  with  sample  dialogue  that  followed  with  the question of dialogue. So writing of material in textbooks is in accordance with the 2013 curriculum. By conducting this research, it is expected that English teachers pay attention to the content of the textbook that they used to teach their students. They have to choose textbook which is compatible with the curriculum used.</note>
