Thesis, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Tarbiyah Faculty, State Islamic University (UIN) Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda. This research was supervised by Mrs. Rostanti Toba, M.Pd as the first Supervisor and Mrs. Widya Noviana Noor, M,Pd. A second supervisor. 	Speaking is one of the four language skills. Because, it is step someone learns a language . In learning English language, there are four skills which are important to learn, namely listening, speaking, reading and writing. Those skills were supported by some components such as vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation. The aim of this research was to find out the difficulties students faced in Speaking English at class VIII of  SMP Negeri 3 Samarinda Academic Year 2022/2023. The method use in this research was a qualitative descriptive method.  The instruments used in this research were observation, interviews, and documentation. The research applied Miles, Huberman, and Saldana analysis model. Those were dta collection, data condensation, data display and conclusion. The subjects of this research were students class VIII at SMP Negeri 3 Samarinda. Based on the data result, the researcher found  that students lacked mastery of vocabulary grammar and pronunciation, could not understand techniques in speaking comprehension. From the interviews, the researcher found that the students' main difficulties were influenced by their weaknesses in mastering various vocabulary grammar and pronunciation. Therefore, the students faced difficulties in Speaking English find it difficult. To help them, by providing awareness of vocabulary knowledge to students could improve their speaking skill.</note>
