Thesis, English Education Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris State Islamic University, Samarinda. This research is under the guidance of Mr. Dr. Shafa, S.Pd.I., M.Pd. as the first advisor, and Mrs Anis Komariah, M.Pd. as the second advisor.  In today's globalized world, English is one of the most important foreign languages to learn. To improve the teaching and learning of English, it is important to understand students' perceptions of English learning at school. Not only knowing students' perceptions, but student motivation is equally important for improving students' English learning. Therefore, the researcher wanted to find out the students’ perception and motivation on learning English at the school of SMK Nasional Muara Jawa, especially in the twelfth grade students’. This research used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The data were analysed using percentage and mean techniques, and the instrument used was a questionnaire. The research subjects consisted of 64 students of class XII of SMK Nasional Muara Jawa in the academic year 2023/2024. The sample was determined through purposive sampling, and the data were collected using a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The results showed that students' perceptions of English learning can be divided into three levels: highly, moderate, and lowly. A total of 69.2% of students showed a high perception of English learning, based on a high average of 9 out of 13 statements. While students' motivation was also divided into three levels: highly, moderate, and lowly. A total of 55% of students showed a high motivation of English learning, based on a high average of 11 out of 20 statements. In conclusion, both students' perceptions and motivation towards learning English in grade twelve of SMK Nasional Muara Jawa are high levels.</note>
