Listening is one of the essential skills because it is important for daily activities and the classroom learning process, particularly in English classes. Despite this, many students may still struggle with listening comprehension. Because listening is one of the difficult skills to learn because there are many factors that must be achieved and requires more concentration to master it. Based on the result of the problems above, the researcher generates the concept of constructing a teaching   listening   strategy   using   missing   lyrics   as   learning   media   to help students improve their listening comprehension skills emerged. This research was conducted to find out whether missing lyrics is significantly effective or not significantly effective to improve students' listening skill at SMAN 4 Samarinda in academic year 2022/2023.
The research approach employed in this research was quantitative, using a quasi-experimental design to compare two classes. Students at the eleventh grade in SMAN 4 Samarinda served as the research subjects. Class XI IPS 2 and class XI IPS 3 were the subjects of this research. With 28 students in the experimental class and 32 in the control class, class XI IPS 2 served as the control group and class XI IPS 3 as the experimental  group. Multiple-choice examinations served as the research instrument. The researcher utilized the SPSS version 26 program and the independent sample T-test formula to evaluate the data.
The results of research showed that missing lyrics was “quite effective” to improved listening comprehension achievement of the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 4 Samarinda. The results of the statistical test reveal that the significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) was 0.000, where the achieved value was less than 0.05. It can be concluded that the missing lyrics improved the listening achievement of eleventh-grade SMAN 4 Samarinda students and can be used as an alternative strategy to improve students' listening abilities.</note>
