In era of globalization, translation activities are becoming increasingly significant practices, particularly in Indonesia. Translation is the process of changing a sentence from the original language to the target language. In efforting to comprehend English material, students always try to translate it first. Google Translate is a service often used by students to translate. The use of a simple application makes this application a favorite application that is commonly used by the public, especially students. In this Google translate application, many features make it very easy for users to translate the source language into the target language. This study describes students’ perception on the use of Google Translate in English learning at the fifth semester of English department of UINSI Samarinda. This research used a quantitative method. The data were collected using questionnaire and documentation. The population and sample were the fifth semester students at English Department. Based on the result, data shows that students’ perception toward the use of Google Translate in translating English material is positive. It is stated that Google Translate giving help a lot. The students depend on Google Translate to translate the new word, sentences or paragraph that the students never know or understand. The students can translate faster and complete their assignments. Although there is still weakness of translation result using Google Translate, the positive assessment of the students come from their experience in learning English by using Google Translate.
