Pd as the first advisor, and Mrs. Nadia Sya’ya M. Pd., M. TESOL as the second advisor.
In education, the existence of mobile learning is being important to students. Mobile phone could help students for learning language effectively. Besides, using mobile phone is useful to increase positive attitudes and improving students’ academic performance towards learning language where students have high of self- efficacy. Using a mobile phone day by day may affect students’ attitudes and self- efficacy seeing of few reasons that mobile phones also have limit for use. The objective of this research is to know the students’ attitudes and self-efficacy towards the use of mobile phone as a mean for learning language.
Descriptive quantitative used in this research to address the stated questions 73 samples are taken at English Education Department by used stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used was only questionnaire in the close-ended questions which are containing 5-point scale. The researcher was collected data by questionnaire adapted and modified from previous study. The researcher did a pilot study to try out a certain research instrument to check the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. After collecting the data, the data is analyzed using a descriptive statistic.
This research found on two problem stated, such as 1) students’ attitudes towards the use of mobile phone for learning language, and 2) students’ self- efficacy towards the use of mobile phone for learning language. The students’ attitudes towards mobile phone as a means for learning language found with overall percentage is 78.6%. The students’ self-efficacy was also reported having for overall percentage is 80.9%. It summed that students had positive attitudes with the potential of mobile phone that help them to keep great at solving problem faced in learning language. Despite that, the high level of self-efficacy in utilizing mobile phone for learning purposes revealed that students could face any problem for learning language even had to use mobile phones.</note>
